Josh nodded as Monroe said that it was nice of him to show her around. He took another drink of his coffee and resisted the urge to let out a satisfying ah, not wanting to sound rude. He smiled over his cup at her when she mentioned about having a lunch break coming up.
"What's a lunch break?" he asked with a playful smile. "Kidding. I usually take my lunch on the go. I'm quite the busy bee." he said raising his cup. He glanced down at his watch and shook his head. "Speaking of which, I need to get back to my own work. It was nice to meet you Monroe. I wish you the best of luck." he said.
He nodded and threw her one last smile before turning to go. He made his way past Freddie's desk and dropped a stack of papers on it before proceeding to his office. He only hoped that Monroe would keep her nose clean.

Monroe watched him walk away. She thought he was a pretty damn good looking guy. But she had to keep her guard up around here. She wasn't used to having to do her own work. She didn't need the money, but the judge had placed her here after one of her drunken tirades. She closed her eyes and exhaled. This was going to be a long day and an even longer few months. But she thought maybe, just maybe she might want to rise to watcher some day. But for now, she'd keep that to herself. She didn't want anyone to think she actually wanted to work. If that got around, it could really ruin her reputation as a wild rockstar girl. And she couldn't have that. It was really all she had. But she wished for once someone would see through the facade she put on everyday and become a real, true friend.
She walked back to her desk and plopped down. She had a ton of papers in front of her and she needed to get to work on them if she were actually going to have a lunch break like she'd told Josh. He seemed like an alright guy though and her mind kept drifting back to him. She even wondered if he had a girlfriend. But thoughts like that would get her no where except probably stuck her forever pining over a guy that couldn't possibly see her as anything more than trouble. Oh well, she thought. She tried to dismiss the entire idea and she got back to her work.
