Luka was tired. He had spent the entire evening trying to convince a new talent to join the cast of the newest NBC sitcom. He had taken them out for a nice dinner and a few drinks at the best bar in L.A. but still wasn't sure that they were going to come on board or not.
They had parted ways with a, "I'll call you when I decide" and Luka felt frustrated. Of course being a talent scout was only part of his actual job. The main part of course, was being a watcher. The new talent was a gifted actor. But he had also gotten into some trouble lately. The government had asked Luka to keep an eye on him. Even though he knew that if he wasn't to be trusted he would have failed the tests right?
Luka stretched and yawned before heading downstairs to grab a cup of coffee. It was off to the office now to give his report on the young actor. He hadn't done anything to really make a report on, but of course Luka had to report anything that could be used against him. It was a tough job, but hell, somebody had to do it.
He finished making his cup of coffee and said goodbye to his butler before heading out to his car. He arrived at his office where he was greeted by his co-workers. As per usual he greeted them with a blank nod and stare before heading to report to his superior. The superior directed him to the minister, so he knocked on Minister Hedgrove's office and waited for him to answer.

Josh was in his office, studying the latest reports he had been getting. The stacks of paper were becoming overwhelming. He had his feet propped up on his desk and was leaning back in his chair. Cup of coffee in one hand and a typed out report in another. He hated paper, it was a waste of good trees. However they had to have hard copies of everything, just in case. He knew how computers crashed all to often. He hated technology, and for that reason right there.
He let out a sigh and dropped his feet to the floor. Setting the papers and coffee cup down he then rest his elbows on his desk. He rubbed his eyes and tried to wake up a bit more. He looked up and grabbed his coffee cup and took a careful sip of the hot beverage. He closed his eyes and sat back with a sigh trying to fully wake up.
He was just starting to relax when a knock came at his office door. He sighed and frowned slightly before sitting up and setting the cup down. He looked at the door before speaking. "Come in." he replied before taking one more drink of the joe.

He heard the voice from the other side of the door and opened it stepping inside and shutting it behind him. He nodded in greeting to Joshua and made his way over to the chair in front of his desk. He sat down and took a sip of his own coffee.
"I'm here to give my report on the Waters boy sir." he started off. He waited for just a moment before proceeding. "He seemed a bit taken off guard by my offer of dinner and drinks but he didn't get too drunk and he was smart and let me call a cab home. The boy just wants to wave his talent around I feel. There doesn't seem to be anything specific about him that's noteworthy." Luka explained.
He took another sip of his coffee and crossed his leg over the other. He watched the other man in slight awe. He was a good looking man Luka thought, but of course he'd never tell him that. For one he'd get fired and two probably get his ass kicked, and he didn't want that to happen. He smiled kindly and awaited his reply.

Joshua listened as Luka gave his report on Robert Waters. The boy was a descendant of Robert Downey Jr. and sometimes had been known to have a drug and alcohol problem. But going by what Luka had said he knew that the boy must have realized he was being watched. He nodded as Luka explained everything.
"Thank you for your report Freddie." he told him. He knew that Luka preferred to go by Freddie rather then Luka. A lot of people said that it was because he looked so much like Freddie Mercury. Well, his great grandfather had played him in a movie after all so it made sense.
"Have you gotten any word from our boys at Hendricks? Any possible releases in the near future?" Josh asked the man.

Luka nodded when Joshua thanked him for his report. When he asked if there had been any reports about any possible releases from Hendricks Luka made a thoughtful face and pulled out his pocket pc. He scrolled through the list of names on there and looked for one that said possible parole on it. When he didn't see one he shook his head and looked up at Josh. Shouldn't he have known that?
"No sir. Not for at least a few more months." he answered. "Few months being 10-12 so No." he added putting the pc away.
He looked up at Joshua expectantly wondering if he had anymore questions or assignments for him. He didn't really have anything to do aside from typing up his report on Robert Waters which wouldn't take too long anyway. After that he had to watch another consumer that had been parading about Hollywood. It was ex-con Arlin the Arson. Of course only the government and his next of kin knew his true identity, but he still had to take his test in a few weeks and Luka had been assigned to make sure he came in to do so.

Joshua nodded and lifted his coffee cup once more to his lips. He took a long sip of it before setting it down and smiling kindly over at Luka. He put his hands together setting them on the desk and looked over the desk at him.
"I know that you've been assigned to watch Arlin the Arson. Are you nervous about it?" Josh asked.
He was curious. Most other Gifted still feared him, even though it had been 124 years since his last killing. But even so, he was still out there. Living in the world, and nobody outside of the government knew what he went by these days. What would they think if they knew that he was the famous Stewart Barlow? Twin Brother of Chad Barlow. Well, technically they were now living as older and younger brothers, but only Joshua, and those two knew that part.

Luka watched Joshua as he nodded to his statement. He took a drink of his own coffee taking advantage of the silence. It was so good this early in the morning. When Josh asked him if he were nervous about watching Arlin the Arson Luka shook his head.
"No sir. I'm not afraid of that panty waist. He hasn't done anything in 124 years I doubt he will now. I think he's just content with being free. I have no doubts about him. Maybe he'd be a good example for those that are in the asylums you know. One that was rehabilitated." Luka explained.
He did feel that way. He wasn't afraid of the man, in fact he had followed his career from the beginning. He was a very talented young man. He had heard stories as well, from interviewers and fans that he was a real people person. After being locked up for 20some years, it was no wonder he had changed.

Josh chuckled slightly when Luka said that he wasn't afraid of that panty waist. He knew he hired that man as a watcher for a good reason. In time he may even promote him to an enforcer. However with him just being a sensitive it was hard to enforce laws on people who were more powerful. But he was good at being a watcher.
"Good. Most of my watchers fear him to this day. It's nice to see someone that's not for once. I agree with you, I doubt he's going to do anything stupid. He and his brother are pretty close not to mention his older brother is an ex minister. Did you know that?" Josh said in response.
He reached over and grabbed his coffee cup sipping down the rest of it now that it was getting cold. "Well Freddie, if there isn't anything else then you're free to go." Josh told him. He was sure that Luka was ready to get out of there anyway. He did have some work to do.

Luka listened as Josh explained how most people were still afraid of Arlin the Arson. He raised a brow in curiosity when he revealed that his older brother was an ex minister. He wondered just which one it could have been but didn't comment on the matter. When Josh asked him if he had known that he shook his head. "No sir, I had no idea." he replied.
When Josh told him that he was dismissed he nodded and stood up dropping his empty coffee cup in the trash can beside Josh's desk. "Thank you sir. Have a pleasant day." he told him.
Luka made his way back to the main office and to his own desk. He sat down at his computer and turned it on signing in and pulling up the necessary program to type up his report on the waters boy. Once he was finished he sent the email and sat back in his chair relaxing finally.

Josh nodded when Luka said for him to have a great day. "You too Luka." he said in response. He watched as Luka left his office and turned back to his computer. He reached forward and found his coffee cup and picked it up. He frowned when he saw that it was empty and pushed his way to his feet.
Josh made his way into the main office and over to the large pot of coffee. He poured him a cup and added the right amount of cream and sugar before tasting it and looking around the room a the others there.
It was busy as usual, people bustling about filing paperwork, and the clacking of keys being pressed as the reports were typed up on several computers. Josh sipped his coffee and continued to watch the room with interest.

Monroe wasn't working at the ministry out of love for it. She was forced to. "They" wanted her to stay out of trouble since she'd been getting into more lately. It was enough to make you paranoid. Not really knowing who was in charge of her life. She supposed she always knew it wasn't herself. So they'd put her in this room and told her to "push papers" which at first, she didn't understand. But soon she knew. It didn't take long to catch on. She was given papers and told to keep them in line; to keep them sorted.
Monroe was in charge of keeping up with the Gifted. She had to make sure the papers on them were updated and that all of them were found and put on a huge list. She didn't actually get to hunt them down herself, yet. They didn't trust her enough. They were right about that part, though.
She spotted the enforcer she was supposed to hand her latest paperwork over to. He was standing next to the coffee, which she really wanted anyways. So she gathered up her pile, and set off to meet him for the first time, hoping maybe he'd have some other type of work for her. Not likely though, since she'd just become part of the team.

Josh continued to watch the room sipping on his coffee. He noticed Luka over at his computer as he was getting ready to go start his watcher job. He still didn't see why the majority of the ministry still thought that his great uncle still needed to be watched. It has been over 100 years and he'd been on his best behavior. He shook his head and took a drink of his coffee.
When a young woman approached him he smiled and nodded over at her. He noticed that she was a newer face and figured that he'd better introduce himself just so that she knew who he was.
He made his way over to her with a smile holding his coffee in one hand and extending the other for her to take. "Allow me to introduce myself. Name's Joshua Hedgrove. I'm the Minister of the Gifted, as well as the head Watcher. You must be miss Willis? Welcome to our little community. If you'd like I could give you a tour, introduce you to some of our watchers?" he offered.
Josh tried to be as welcoming to the new people as he could. He felt that the others could look up to him as a father figure even if most of them were older then he was. However being from a long line of ministers he certainly knew how to run the place.

Monroe looked Joshua over. He was a handsome man. It warmed her reply.
"Yeah, sure. Let's have a look around. I guess I'm going to have to meet them soon or later, right? Of course I'm just a lowly paper pusher..even though out there," she nodded towards the direction she thought the rest of the world would be,"I'm a singer. I guess you know that. I'm pretty popular. It's a stipulation, me working here. At least that's what the judge thought."
At the mention of the judge, her nose went up. She made a horrible face. "Anyways, let's have that..tour." She gave him her best come hither smile.
She got up, ready to follow him around. In fact, she jumped in front of him and started walking, making sure he was following.

Josh raised a brow as Monroe spoke. He blinked a few times and refrained from shaking his head. He had dealt with her kind before. The ones that weren't so bad that they could still pass the test but wind up in trouble later on down the line. A lot like the young actor Luka had been speaking to earlier that day. It was a tough job, but somebody had to do it, and of course that somebody was Joshua.
He nodded when Monroe told him that she was a singer. Of course he knew that. He knew all the gifted and what they did, it was his duty, and having a photographic memory helped with that. Of course that was never considered a gift but he thought it was more useful in his line of work than any other gift that he had acquired in his lifetime.
"Yes, I know all about you Ms. Willis. It's my job to know about the gifted." he answered.
He shook his head when she started walking and chuckled softly as he made his way over to her and began pointing out the different parts of the area. He introduced her to several of the other employees and was going to introduce her to Luka as well but saw that he had already left for his next assignment.
Lastly he made it to his own office and pointed at the sign at the door. "And lastly, this is my office. Be sure to remember it in case you're asked to drop something off here. You'll find my door is always open to anyone who needs help with anything." he told her with a kind smile.

She didn't actually know where he would go and what he would point out, so it was foolish of her to try and lead. It was just part of her personality however. She carefully took in the layout of the office. She had already been shown around, but she didn't want to say anything. This was the big boss and she needed to be on his good side.
"Thanks for showing me around. So I know where to go if you need papers. And you can just send them my way. Because that's what I do here." She tried to bite her tongue and not further push her luck. "So I'll remember I can come to you. It's been uh nice of you to show me around and all. I've got more paperwork to get back to. But I've got a lunch break coming up.."
